Hard To Find, Exquisite 1892 In EF Morgan Silver Dollar!
The Morgan is a silver United States dollar coin and is, without a doubt, one of the most popular, widely collected and appealing coins in American coinage history. U.S. Morgan silver dollar production, which had reached its apex in the 1880’s, had severely decreased by 1892. During that year, just 1.036 million Morgans were issued by the Philadelphia Mint, whose production amounts had averaged over twenty million per year in 1887-1889 and over nine million in 1890-1891.
The dollars were minted from 1878-1904 and again for one more year in 1921. George T. Morgan, the designer of the exquisite Morgan silver dollar, designed the obverse and the reverse of the coin, which is thought to be, by many, the pinnacle of his career. Wearing a coronet with the word “Liberty” in her flowing hair, the portrait of Lady Liberty, facing left, takes up most of the obverse of this coin. She is surrounded by thirteen stars, the issue date and the words “E Pluribus Unum”, meaning “Out of many, one”. George Morgan’s monogram appears near Miss Liberty’s neck.

On the reverse sits the bald eagle with spread wings, perched on a branch and arrows. The eagle is partially surrounded by a wreath and above its head it reads “In God We Trust”. The words “United States of America” is on the rim of the coin, separated by a star on either side from the words “One Dollar”. Morgans struck at the Philadelphia Mint contain no mint mark. This stunning coin has a fineness of .900 and is in Extremely Fine condition, making it an absolutely rare treasure! Having this magnificent 1892 Morgan silver dollar is to have in your possession a coin with a history that goes back more than one hundred years.
